Erwin Blumenfeld Modern Print: Natalia Pasco, c. 1944 - 1950

Erwin Blumenfeld Modern Print: Natalia Pasco, c. 1944 - 1950

Natalia Pasco was a frequent subject and romantic partner of photographer Erwin Blumenfeld (1897 - 1969). She was cast in numerous editorial and commercial shoots conducted in Blumenfeld’s studio, but his personal projects featuring Pasco provide even more valuable insight into his process as a photographic innovator. Blumenfeld frequently used analog techniques such as solarization, collage and multiple exposures to bring the spirit of Surrealism to bear in his work. He paired technical experimentation with a classical approach to the genre, producing sophisticated and enduring photographs that have inspired many fashion and beauty photographers working today.
