Island by Julia Hetta is an intimate exploration of the Swedish island, Fårö. Photographed in collaboration with her long-time friend and artist, Åsa Stenerhag, Island captures some of Fårö’s most tranquil features -- sculptural limestone formations lining its beaches, the haunting Baltic Sea on the horizon, and the stark, evanescent Nordic light. Island’s surreal and minimalist images are infused with the subtle, controlled characteristics attributed to Hetta’s work, long informed by traditions of classical painting and her native home, Sweden.
